Speed of Sound and Light
Speed of Sound and Light
Moving at the speed of sound
Hear the music all around you
Traveling at the speed of light
Feel the rhythm and you know it’s right
Chorus:
There’s no time to wait
We can’t hesitate.
It won’t be too late……if we just…..
Close our eyes….
Step inside…….
Hypnotize…..
Your body presses close to me
I feel your warmth and energy, yeah
Then I see you step away
Arms in the air you start to sway.
Chorus:
Repeat Verse 1
Chorus to crescendo:
This song was written about a week before I recorded the demos for this record. I was worried that I didn’t have enough songs, so I started working on 3 different progressions that I’d had on my “progressions to work on” list. I worked on all 3 at once, which was hard for me, but I was able to turn all 3 into songs on this record – this one, Coming Back Home, and 7 Crows. I heard this song to be like the “Miami Sound Machine”, heavy percussion and perhaps horns. When Scott Smith heard the song he didn’t get that from it, and I always trust Scott’s opinions on my songs. He thought I needed to play electric guitar on it, which was cool. When we recorded it, when I heard the playback I told Scott it sounded like I was playing a toy guitar. He told me not to worry, he would fix that. This song is sort of about a rave or a dance party (I’ve never been to a rave, actually). Is there such a thing as a country western rave? I really like the rhythm of the lyrics. Leslie says she takes no ownership of this song.
